Words of the prophets
Words of the Prophets, a theater/dance workshop, was produced by The Why Collective. The production required a set crafted almost entirely from recycled materials. Utilizing cardboard as my main material, I fashioned an abstract, cityscape wall hanging, and decorated the set with repurposed found objects. Fake candles nestled within the burn barrel provided an illusion of flickering flames. Adding depth to the cityscape, the navy blue paths were intricately layered with shimmer and glow-in-the-dark paint, ensuring they remained visible during blackouts.
The staged area was conceptualized as a living space, fashioned by an individual who is otherwise unhoused (Narrator, image 5). Among the set were scattered books, provisions, and bedding, reflecting a semblance of domesticity. Art supplies, employed in the creation of the wall hanging, hinted at the occupant's creative pursuits. The evolving Cityscape represented their ongoing endeavor, a testament to their resilience and ingenuity.
